Chinese keyboard input
Welcome to Unit 3! In this unit, we'll elevate your Chinese language skills by mastering keyboard input for typing Chinese characters on various devices. This is an essential skill that will empower you to communicate effectively in written Chinese.
Before we dive into the exciting world of Chinese keyboard input, let's start with the setup. Please read the following instructions carefully and set up your keyboard input as directed:
Step 1: Adding Chinese to Your Keyboard (See below)
Step 2: Selecting 'Chinese' from the Language Bar
Step 3: Typing Pinyin
For example, to type 'mum' in Chinese, type 'mama' on the keyboard.
Step 4: Selecting Characters
You'll be presented with a number of different characters. Simply select the number corresponding to the character(s) you want. For instance, '妈妈' will appear when you type 'mama' and press '1' or the space bar.
Pro Tips:
1. Keep in mind that typing in Chinese pinyin may result in multiple characters with the same pinyin.
2. The Chinese keyboard will prioritize frequently used characters, but you can use the arrow keys to select a different one and then press space.
3. When typing a combination of characters or a commonly used phrase, the suggested box will automatically display the relevant characters. For example, typing "nashibabadegou" will predict and select the correct characters for "That's dad's dog."
With these tips and your newfound keyboard input skills, you'll be navigating the world of written Chinese with ease.
