Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how UWTSD Confucius Institute (“the School,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) collects, uses, maintains, and discloses information collected from users (“Students”) of our online courses hosted via the Teachable platform. This Privacy Policy applies to the School and to all courses offered by the School.

Personal identification information

We may collect personal identification information from Students in a variety of ways, including, but not limited to, when Students enroll in the School or a Course within the School, subscribe to a newsletter, and in connection with other activities, services, features, or resources we make available in our School. Students may visit the School anonymously. We will collect personal identification information from Students only if they voluntarily submit such information to us. Students can refuse to supply personal identification information but doing so may prevent them from engaging in certain School related activities.

How We Use Collected Information

The School may collect and use Students’ personal identification information for the following purposes:

  • To improve customer service:
Information you provide helps us respond more effectively to your customer service requests and support needs.
  • To personalize user experience:
We may use information in aggregate form to understand how Students as a group use the services and resources provided by our School.
  • To send periodic emails:
We may use Student email addresses to send information and updates related to course enrollment or progress. Email addresses may also be used to respond to Student inquiries, questions, or requests.

Data Retention and Junior Learners

If a Student is under 18 years old, we retain their personal information (such as name and email address) only for as long as necessary to provide access to the course and verify course completion.

Once the Student has completed the course and any related certification has been issued, we will delete or anonymize their personal information within 30 days, unless we are required by law or regulation to retain it for longer.

Parents or legal guardians may contact us at confuciusinstitute@uwtsd.ac.uk

to request earlier deletion of a Student’s information at any time.

By enrolling, parents or guardians of junior learners acknowledge and consent to the temporary use of Student information for learning and certification purposes.

Sharing Your Personal Information

We do not sell, trade, or rent Student personal identification information to others.

We may share limited information with trusted third parties who help us operate our School or administer our courses (for example, Teachable), but only to the extent necessary to provide the service and always in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Websites

Students may find content in our School that links to the websites or services of our partners, suppliers, advertisers, sponsors, licensors, or other third parties. We do not control the content or links on these websites and are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from our School.

These websites and services may have their own privacy policies and customer service terms. Browsing and interaction on any other website, including those linked from our School, are subject to that website’s own policies.
